Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week 0.30% up

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week up 0.30% or 309.56 points to open at 103,146.74 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose by 0.78% to close the week at 102,837.19 points with a daily trading volume of 6.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.16 billion).

Last week, the benchmark index posted a 0.97% hike. At the beginning of this year, the BIST 100 hovered around 89,000 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6480 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday -- no change compared to Friday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2870, versus 6.2900, and one British pound traded for 6.9950 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0110.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $63.02 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
