Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 1.46% at close

BIST 100 rises over 22 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 1,533.55 points, up 1.46%.

Starting the day at 1,520.80 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 22.13 points over Tuesday's close of 1,511.43 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,509.18 and 1,532.78 points -- 74 stocks on the index rose and 24 fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($161 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 30.1 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4.20 billion).

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,836.80 at market close, down from $1,847.25 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $58.65 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT).
