Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 2.22% at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 101,982.96 points on Monday, up 2.22% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 100,898.07 points. As of the daily close, it earned 2,214.81 points from the last week's close of 99,768.15 points.

Borsa Istanbul markets will be closed on Tuesday as Turkey will mark the Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day on May 19.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,765.30 by market close, up from $1,738.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $35.50 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday.
