Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

BIST 100 index gains 9.48 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,435.51 points on Monday, rising 0.66% or 9.48 points from the previous close.

At Friday’s close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was flat at 1,426.03 points, with a daily trading volume of 23.5 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.1 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.5400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.5760 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate declined slightly to 9.2200 from 9.2160, while one British pound traded for 10.2400 Turkish liras, up from 10.1170.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $51.07 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
