Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, rose 577.59 points or 0.53 percent to open at 109,029.29 points on Monday.

The banking and holding sector indices were up 0.69 percent and 0.60 percent, respectively.

All sectors gained value while the electricity sector index was the best performer with a 1.01-percent rise.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 3.4100 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, compared with 3.4080 at Friday’s close.

The BIST 100 was down 1,291.25 points or 1.18 percent to reach 108,451.70 points at the close on Friday, with a total trading volume of 6.1 billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.78 billion).
