Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at opening

BIST 100 index rises 0.10 pct while US dollar/Turkish lira rate stands around 3.46

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, rose 109.4 points or 0.10 percent to open at 108,264.93 points on Thursday.

The banking and holding sector indices were up 0.10 and 0.14 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the sports sector index was the best performer, increasing by 1.68 percent, while the mining sector index started the day with the biggest fall, losing 0.83 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.4650 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared with 3.4460 at Wednesday’s close.

The BIST 100 was down 974.12 points or 0.89 percent to reach 108,155.53 points at close on Wednesday, with a 5.6-billion Turkish lira ($1.63 billion) trade volume.
