Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday open

BIST 100 index gains over 3 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,416.99 points on Thursday, up 0.22% or 3.13 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index had ended Wednesday up 2.65% at 1,413.86 points, with a daily trading volume of 30.3 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.9600 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.9000 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 9.4400, up from 9.3600, while one British pound traded for 10.9200 Turkish liras, rising from 10.8820.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63.33 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
