Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 1.55 % or 1,719.18 points Thursday to start the day at 112,504.56 points.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went down %0.38 to 110,785.38 points with a daily trading volume of 11.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 6.0680 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from Wednesday's closing rate of 6.0960.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.7640, versus 6.7760, and one British pound was traded for 7.8430 Turkish liras. It was 7.8470 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $51.84 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
