Turkey's energy imports get major boost in January
Country's total imports nearly $15.5 billion in same month, according to Turkish Statistical Institute

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's energy imports increased by 42.4 percent to $3.19 billion in January from $2.24 billion year-on-year, according to Turkish Statistical Institute's (Turkstat) data Tuesday.
The data shows that Turkey's imports in January 2017 totaled $15.5 billion, out of which energy accounted for nearly 20.5 percent.
Additionally, the country's crude oil imports showed a 24.2 percent increase in January compared to the same period in 2016.
Turkey imported approximately 2.37 million tons of crude oil in January 2017, while the figure was nearly 1.91 million tons for the same period in 2016.
