TurkStat said calendar adjusted industrial production index was 116.0 in May, versus 117.6 a year ago.
The term "calendar-adjusted" is used to refer to data without calendar and holiday-originating effects.
"When the sub-sectors of the industry were examined, while mining and quarrying index decreased by 2.5% and manufacturing index decreased by 1.8%, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 4.1%," the institute said.
According to TurkStat, the purpose of calculating monthly industrial production index is to measure the evolution of economy and the positive and negative effects of economical political decisions in the short term.
