Turkish parliament head addresses 10th Consultation Meeting of foundation established to provide education

By Emin Avundukluoglu

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish parliament head on Monday said Turkey's Maarif Foundation makes investment in human capital, which is "admirable".

"Investment in human capital benefits all countries. The schools of Turkey's Maarif Foundation serves this lofty aim," Mustafa Sentop told the foundation's 10th Consultation Meeting in the capital Ankara.

The parliament speaker said online education and services are here to stay, even after the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

"Both on a global and local level, we will continue to invest in technology, which increases Turkey's competitiveness," he said.

The Turkish government set up the foundation soon after the 2016 defeated coup to administer overseas schools linked to the terror group.

Over the last five years, the foundation has also established new schools and education centers around the world.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup in Turkey, which left 251 people martyred and 2,734 injured.

The group has a considerable presence outside Turkey, including private schools that serve as a revenue stream for the terrorist group.

Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions.
