Turkey’s milk production rises in September
Amount of collected milk reaches nearly 800,000 tons in Sept., up 8 pct year-on-year

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's cow milk production in September increased 8.1 percent, compared to the same month last year, the country's statistical authority revealed on Monday.
The amount of collected cow's milk rose to 788,331 tons in the month, from 756,923 tons in September 2017, the TurkStat said in a statement.
Integrated dairies produced 119,172 tons of drinking milk, indicating a rise of 5 percent during the same period.
September's data showed that cheese production from cow’s milk went up 6.8 percent year-on-year to 58,179 tons.
"Cheese production from sheep, goat, buffalo and mixed milk was 1,754 tons, decreased by 13.4 percent, compared to the same month last year," it added.
The country produced 108,062 tons yogurt previous month, up 9.5 percent from September 2017.
On a monthly basis, seasonal and calendar adjusted amount of collected cow’s milk saw a decrease of 1.4 percent in September.
Last year, around 9.1 million tons of cow milk were collected in Turkey while over 1.5 million tons of drinking milk production was recorded.
The country's exports of dairy products and eggs amounted to $711.5 million while imports stood at $126.4 million in 2017.
