Turkey's TAV is world's top airport contractor

ANKARA (AA) - TAV Construction topped the Engineering News Record (ENR) 2016 list of international airport contractors, based on revenue, for the third year in a row, the company announced Friday.

TAV is also the only Turkish company in the list of top 30 international transportation contractors.

"We are glad and proud to maintain our top ranking in the ENR list for three years and successfully represent the achievements of our country in engineering and contracting fields. We will continue to be a true representative of our country as a global brand preferred throughout the world," the CEO of TAV Sani Sener said in the statement.

TAV Construction undertook such construction expansion projects as the Istanbul Ataturk, Ankara Esenboga, Izmir Adnan Menderes and Gazipasa-Alanya airports in Turkey.

"The company will have built a total of 16 airports in the Middle East and North Africa region -- seven of them are the gateways of the capital cities of their respective countries. The expertise and know-how of more than 30,000 employees lie behind this success," Sener added.

ENR describes itself as "the bible of the construction industry, providing news and features about projects, products and people in construction, architecture and engineering."
