Turkish actress nominated for 35th European Film Awards
Meltem Kaptan 1 of 5 actresses shortlisted in European Actresses category

ANKARA (AA) - A Turkish German actress was among the nominees selected Tuesday for the European Film Awards.
The European Film Academy announced nominees for the main categories at the 35th edition of the awards.
Meltem Kaptan, who stars in Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush, was among the five actresses shortlisted in the European Actresses category.
The list includes Vicky Krieps in Corsage, Zar Amir Ebrahimi for Holy Spider, Lea Seydoux for her role in One Fine Morning, and Penelope Cruz in Parallel Mothers.
Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush is the real story of a Turkish German mother’s fight to get justice for her son Murat, who was held at the Guantanamo Bay military prison camp in Cuba for half a decade in 2001-2006.
Kaptan won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at this year’s Berlinale -- Berlin International Film Festival.
The film won two awards at Berlinale and was directed by Andreas Dresen.
