ATHENS (AA) - Turkish aerial vehicles including two planes and a helicopter have joined the fight against a wildfire that has been raging in northeastern Athens since last Sunday.
Speaking to Anadolu, Alper Gider, one of the pilots who arrived in Athens as part of Türkiye's help to its Aegean neighbor, said he is proud to be part of the effort.
The wildfire here, like many others elsewhere in the world, was caused by carelessness, he said.
"Right now the fire is under control. But strong winds, extremely hot weather, and low humidity often lead to flareups," he added.
According to him, cooperation between the countries also helps bilateral relations.
"Helping each other in disasters plays a role in revealing the strong ties between Greeks and Turks," Gider said.
