Turkish agency provides health screening in Philippines
Over 15,000 people in capital Manila undergo screening conducted by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish aid group on Thursday said it provided health screening to more than 15,000 people in Philippines’ capital Manila.
In a statement, Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) said the six-week joint project with Manila municipality provided the health screening in six poor areas of the capital.
The project includes examination of people by 20 doctors, five dentists, 35 municipality staff, technical staff, and volunteers.
In addition to medical diagnosis and guidance; dental treatment, optical examination, distribution of optical glasses and free prescriptions for medicine were also provided to the patients.
Wheelchairs, walking sticks, inhalers were distributed among the needy.
Basic tests including electrocardiography, sugar levels, blood pressure, blood type and X-ray screening were also conducted.
Manila’s Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna said the project has largely contributed access of health care services to the Filipinos with low incomes.
“TIKA continues to work to improve the standards of life of people of the Philippines and to strengthen the friendship between the two countries,” the statement added.
