PORT SUDAN, Sudan (AA) – The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) launched the Sustainable Poultry Farming for Women’s Economic Empowerment Project in Tanzania’s Tegeta region on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the aid agency, the project aims to increase income opportunities for women while facilitating access to healthy and affordable protein sources for local communities.

Under the initiative, 30 women entrepreneurs received training covering technical poultry farming knowledge, small business management and marketing skills.

After completing the training, participants were provided with starter packages containing the necessary equipment and materials to begin production.

To enhance the facility’s productivity, poultry feed processing equipment, a high-capacity incubator and modern cooling systems were also supplied.

TIKA also allocated a dedicated mobile vehicle to facilitate the distribution of eggs to surrounding areas, helping reduce logistics costs and ensure product freshness.

The launch ceremony was attended by representatives of Türkiye’s Embassy in Dar es Salaam, the Kinondoni District Governor’s Office, as well as officials from Türkiye and Tanzania and members of local cooperatives.

TIKA has completed approximately 350 projects in Tanzania to date, particularly in agriculture and livestock, alongside initiatives in education, health, women’s empowerment and civil infrastructure.
