A volunteer healthcare team from Türkiye provided a wide range of medical services -- including outpatient consultations and surgical procedures -- at Mnazi Mmoja and Kiwunge hospitals in Zanzibar.
In collaboration with local Tanzanian healthcare workers, the team performed approximately 200 surgeries across specialties such as general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, gynecological oncology, and urology, according to the statement.
Beyond direct patient care, the Turkish academic volunteer team also conducted specialized training programs, helping to strengthen local healthcare capacity. During the initiative, patients were thoroughly assessed, informed about their conditions, and provided with personalized treatment plans.
