Turkish benchmark stock index down at Friday open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8.242,29 points, down by 0.21% or 16.98 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 8,259.27 points, down 0.86%, with a daily trading volume of 158 billion Turkish liras ($5.68 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.7990 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.3110 and a British pound traded for 33.8830 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $87.50 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,893.55.
