Turkish benchmark stock index down at open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 7,688.39 points, down 0.23% or 18.02 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed last week at 7,706.41 points, with a daily increase of 0.58%, with a daily trading volume of 103 billion liras ($3.66 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.2495 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.8435 and a British pound traded for 34.2690 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $88.20 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,006.05.
