Turkish benchmark stock index flat at open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 8,007.99 points, down slightly 0.02% or 1.34 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index on Wednesday closed the midweek at 8,009.33 points, down 1.04%, with a daily trading volume of 82 billion liras ($2.84 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.9495 as of 9.50 a.m. local time (0650GMT), the euro/lira rate stood at 31.7800, while a British pound traded for 36.7785 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $83.20 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,043.40.
