Turkish benchmark stock index up 1.55% at open

ISTANBUL (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8,074.48 points, up 1.55% or 122.88 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 7,948.60 points, down 0.76%, with a daily trading volume of 888 billion Turkish liras ($3.06 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.9300 as of 9.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira rate stood at 31.5580, and a British pound traded for 36.5560 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $80.60 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,041.30.
