ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish Communications Director Fahrettin Altun announced Saturday that the Axiom-3 crew carrying Türkiye's first astronaut, Alper Gezeravci, entered the International Space Station (ISS).
"After all the procedures were completed after the docking of the spacecraft carrying our country's first astronaut Alper Gezeravci to the International Space Station, the Axiom-3 (Ax-3) crew entered the station.
"Gezeravci will conduct 13 different scientific experiments in the International Space Station for 14 days as part of Türkiye's First Human Space Mission," Fahrettin Altun wrote on X.
Altun shared footage of Gezeravci and his team entering the station in the post.
The seven-member station crew met Ax-3 astronauts: Michael Lopez-Alegria, Walter Villadei, Marcus Wandt and Gezeravci.
As the largest space station, the ISS, built by NASA (US), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), ESA (Europe) and CSA (Canada), is serving as a base for scientific research in low Earth orbit.
