Turkish construction firm Karmod expands steel housing projects in France with latest contract

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish construction company Karmod has added a new steel-framed housing project to its portfolio in France, boosting its footprint in Europe.

In a statement on Thursday, the company said the steel-constructed home was built in Montargis, south of Paris, marking the company’s third residential project in France.

Karmod Chair Mehmet Cankaya highlighted the growing demand for their steel homes across Europe, stressing the benefits of high safety standards and rapid construction.

"With the structural security and swift assembly offered by our steel-framed houses, we have successfully established a continuous presence in the European housing market," said Cankaya.

The Montargis project features a 3+1 home, completed in just 20 days – significantly faster than traditional concrete construction, which can take up to a year in similar conditions.

"Our steel construction model drastically reduces labor time, making it increasingly popular across Europe as more people become aware of its advantages. The Montargis home was ordered after the client was impressed by our previous projects," Cankaya added.

He also noted the superior insulation properties of their steel homes.

"Building safety and insulation are top priorities in European residential construction, and we have achieved significant technical expertise in meeting these requirements. Our steel systems integrate seamlessly with insulation materials, enhancing energy efficiency beyond expectations."

The Montargis project covers 119 square meters (1,281 square feet) and features a wood-patterned exterior finish. The prefabrication of the steel framework was carried out at Karmod’s production facilities in Tuzla, eastern Istanbul.

All necessary materials, including insulation, doors, windows, and electrical and plumbing supplies, were shipped from Türkiye in a single truckload. The house is being assembled on-site by Karmod’s specialized team.
