Award will be presented at all remaining CISM championships through end of 2025, including military athletics, naval sports, shooting, and winter games, says Ipek Ipek
ISTANBUL (AA) – Ipek Ipek, the founder of A5 Defense Magazine, presented the Friendship Through Sport Award to Qatar’s delegation during the 25th CISM World Military Equestrian Championship held in Cairo.
Organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) on May 3-9, the championship brought together military equestrian teams from 20 countries. The newly launched award, introduced through a partnership between A5 Defense Magazine and CISM, aims to highlight the unifying power of sports and strengthen international military solidarity.
Based on evaluations by participating delegations, the award was presented to Qatari Brig. Gen. Ali Abdullah Al-Kuwari. The ceremony was attended by CISM President Col. Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, CISM Secretary General Capt. Roberto Recchia, and Ipek.
“This award is about more than athletic performance – it promotes trust and shared values among nations,” Ipek said during the ceremony. “A5 Defense Magazine is proud to support Türkiye’s active role in defense diplomacy.”
A5 announced that the award will be presented at all remaining CISM championships through the end of 2025, including military athletics, naval sports, shooting, and winter games. The award will continue to recognize delegations that best exemplify international unity and sportsmanship.
During the championship, competitors rode horses provided from different countries, reflecting a spirit of harmony, discipline, and trust between rider and horse. Through this initiative, A5 seeks to support the culture of military sports and enhance Türkiye’s international presence in the defense sector.
