THE HAGUE (AA) - Türkiye's Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz has highlighted the significance of the book, Evidence, published by Anadolu, documenting the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza through photographs.

Yildiz represented Türkiye on Monday at the International Court of Justice where Israel is being tried for genocide.

"I am grateful to NGOs and international institutions for calling out to political leaders who unfortunately turned a blind eye to this humanitarian tragedy," he said.

The book which compiles images captured by Anadolu journalists of Israeli atrocities is being used as evidence at the international court.

The public hearings started last week in The Hague following the UN General Assembly's request for an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from policies and practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

South Africa brought a genocide case against Israel to the ICJ in late December and asked it for emergency measures to end the bloodshed in Gaza, where more than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7.

The court in January ordered Israel to take "all measures within its power" to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza but fell short of ordering a cease-fire.
