Turkish intelligence identifies PKK terrorist 'neutralized' in N.Iraq as senior ringleader

Sedat Aksu, who supplied arms, ammunition to terrorists preparing for attacks in northern Iraq, 'neutralized' in Gara region, say security sources

ANKARA (AA) — Türkiye's intelligence agency identified a PKK terrorist "neutralized" in a previous operation in northern Iraq as a senior member of the terror group, security sources confirmed on Monday.

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization found that Sedat Aksu, the PKK's so-called council head who supplied weapons and ammunition to terrorists preparing to launch attacks in the Claw-Lock operation zone in northern Iraq, had been "neutralized" in the Gara region along with other terrorists, according to the sources.

Code-named Sevger Ciya, Aksu gave the order for members of the terror group to carry out attacks in Türkiye and Iraq, as well as in Syria.

Aksu has been a member of the PKK terrorist organization since 1998, the sources added.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

It was revealed that the terrorist, who has been within the organization since 1998, operated as the so-called leader of the organization in Iraq.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
