By Muhammed Boztepe

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu hosted his Albanian counterpart on Monday in country's capital Ankara.

“I hope to benefit from each other’s experiences, especially in safety, crime and security areas,” Soylu said prior to the bilateral meeting with Sander LIeshaj.

He added that they would also discuss steps to be taken together against Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) -- the group behind 2016 defeated coup in Turkey -- and other terrorists.

Stating that Turkey and Albania have deep-rooted bilateral relations, Soylu invited LIeshaj to Istanbul to attend Budapest Process, a consultative forum on comprehensive and sustainable systems for regular migration, between Feb. 19-21.

LIeshaj, for his part, said he was happy that Turkey is the first foreign destination of his official visits after taking his post in November.

On the shared interests of the two countries in the security field, he said: “This is not just because we are NATO allies, we are also allies in the region.”

He also said that they were going to discuss fight against terrorism, security issues, irregular migration and fight against drugs.
