SARAJEVO (AA) - Turkey’s Maarif Foundation (TMV) and Bosnia Herzegovina Islamic Union Foundation Directorate signed an agreement Thursday to rent the former Orphanage Campus in the capital Sarajevo.
Bosnia Herzegovina Islamic Union Foundation Directorate Huseyin Kavazovic expressed "willingness" at the signing to further cooperate with the TMV in the upcoming period.
Birol Akgun, Maarif’s chairman, also at the event, stated the foundation will raise new generations together that will take Bosnia Herzegovina to the future.
As part of the agreement, the foundation rented four buildings in Sarajevo's Mojmilo district. The campus which is close to the city center, also includes a sports arena and a cafeteria.
The school aims to begin teaching in 2018-2019 and will include kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.
In the one year since its establishment, TMV has assumed control of 32 former FETO-linked schools in Somalia, Guinea, Niger, Sudan and Congo, according to figures released by the Turkish Education Ministry.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
