ANKARA (AA) - Prime Minister Binali Yildirim met his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov in capital Ankara on Tuesday, according to the premier’s office.

A statement issued by the office said the two leaders discussed the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and other regional issues.

"The presence of FETO in Kyrgyzstan should not overshadow friendship between the two countries, and the Kyrgyz authorities should show the necessary cooperation on the issue," the office said.

The Kyrgyz side expressed willingness to do their best in defeating the terror group from the country.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and some 2,200 injured.

Turkey accuses FETO of a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
