Turkish PM vows measures in face of failed coup dangers

Turkish PM Yildirim says danger continues, but safety of Turkish citizens is restored

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has vowed to continue to take measures against "dangers" in the face of July 15 coup attempt.

Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Yildirim said that the danger over attempted coup continues but the government was taking measures against it.

However, he ensured Turkish citizens that their security and safety have been restored.

The deadly coup attempt began late on Friday when rogue elements of the Turkish military tried to overthrow the country's democratically elected government.

At least 246 people, including members of the security forces and civilians, were martyred during the failed putsch and more than 2,000 others were wounded as they protested against it.

Turkey's government has repeatedly said the attempted coup was organized by followers of U.S.-based cleric Fetullah Gulen

Gulen is also accused of a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through infiltrating into Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming a ‘parallel state’.
