ISTANBUL (AA) - President of Turkish Religious Affairs Ali Erbas denounced on Saturday Israeli destruction in the Gaza Strip.

“Remaining silent in the face of this tragedy will not only deepen the current suffering, but will also open unbridgeable wounds in the conscience of future generations,” he said at the end of “The Future of Gaza: International Humanitarian Aid Summit,” which was organized by the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Al Khair Foundation in Istanbul.

Emphasizing that Israel's attacks against Gaza, which started Oct. 7, 2023, not only targeted innocent civilians, Erbas said that the attacks also destroyed the common values of humanity and the basic principles of international law.

Stating that the loss of tens of thousands of innocent civilian lives and the forced displacement of millions as a result of Israel's systematic destructive attacks will cause deep social wounds in Gaza that will last for generations, Erbas said: “Settlements, hospitals, schools, places of worship and civilian living spaces all over Gaza have been mercilessly targeted; cities have been turned into ruins, historical and cultural heritage has been destroyed.”

Erbas noted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's call for the cooperation of the world to reconstruct and support Gaza, and he said Erdogan believes that the summit would have effective and positive results for Gaza.
