Turkish president, Saudi crown prince discuss situation in Gaza

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mohammed bin Salman discuss Israel's attacks on Gaza as well as possible steps to ensure cease-fire, says Türkiye’s Communications Directorate

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AA) - Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh and discussed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of an extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The duo discussed "Israel's attacks on Gaza as well as possible steps to ensure a ceasefire," according to a statement by Türkiye's Communications Directorate.

During the meeting, Erdogan said that Israel's attacks “had reached the level of a massacre and that the Islamic world should work in unity to end this massacre and ensure peace in the region.”

“Türkiye's humanitarian aid activities and efforts to provide medical assistance to the injured continue unabated,” he added.

Earlier, the Arab-Islamic summit began in the Saudi capital Riyadh to discuss the developments taking place in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories.

Leaders and representatives of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are participating in the summit which coincides with the ongoing Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip for the 36th day.
