Turkish shares open higher

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index gained 58.48 points to open at 79,310.89 on Friday.

The country's benchmark index rose 0.07 percent while the banking sector index advanced by 0.04 percent. The holding sector index declined 0.01 percent.

Among the sector indices, the communication sector increased the most with a 0.46 percent rise while the basic metal sector index fell the most, seeing a 1.4 percent decline.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.0550 by the time markets closed on Thursday, stood at 3.0650 early Friday.
