Turkish stock exchange begins Friday in positive territory

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Friday at 9,084.18 points, up 0.33% or 30 points versus the previous close.

At Thursday's close, the BIST 100 index soared 3.54% to 9,054.18 points with a daily transaction volume of 98 billion Turkish liras ($3.08 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 31.9335 as of 11 am (0800GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.9380, while the GBP/TRY rate was 40.9250.

One ounce of gold was for $2,168.75, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $83.60.
