Turkish stock exchange begins new week in positive side

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index opened the new week on Monday at 8.844,50 points, increasing 0.18% or 15.8 points versus the previous close.

At the previous close, the BIST 100 index dropped by 0.62% to 8,828.70 points with a daily transaction volume of 77 billion Turkish liras ($2.38 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 32.3010 as of 10.10 a.m. (0710GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.2330, and the GBP/TRY rate was 41.1380.

One ounce of gold was sold for $2,148.80, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $86.10.
