Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday in the green

Benchmark BIST 100 index up 22.49 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,134.68 points, up 0.25% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 9,109.68, gained 22.49 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,105.43, while the daily high was 9,228.43.

As many as 58 indexes gained in value, while 39 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 83.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.16 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.32 trillion liras ($216.25 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.6110 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 43.8690, and the GBP/TRY traded at 51.6720.

The price of gold was $3,396.50 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $62.45.
