Turkish stock exchange down at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses some 292 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index was at 7,264.87 points at Monday's close, down by 3.87% versus the previous close.

The BIST 100 index lost 292.69 points from Friday's close.

The lowest value of the index during the day was 7,208.14, while its daily high was 7,526.56. One index gained value, while 98 declined throughout Monday.

The total transaction volume reached 43 billion Turkish liras ($1.46 billion), while the overall value of the index was 6.4 trillion Turkish liras ($210.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 29.1550 as of 18.35 (1535GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.0230 and the GBP/TRY traded at 37.1810.

One ounce of gold was at $2,064.50, while barrel price of Brent oil was around $78.80.
