Turkish stock exchange down at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index falls around 110 points at Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 8,718.11 points, down 1.25% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index had started the day at 8,844.50 points, losing 110.59 points from Friday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,718.11, while its daily high was 8,862.93.

Some 15 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 83 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 72 billion Turkish liras ($2.23 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.4 trillion liras ($230.9 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.2970 as of 19.15 p.m. (1615GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.1630, while the GBP/TRY traded at 41.1080.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,156.30, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $86.90.
