Turkish stock exchange down at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 9,699.56 points, down by 0.73% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the week at 9,795.24 points, down 71.6 points from last week's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,699.56, while its daily high was 9,838.01.

While 68 indices dropped during the day, 27 gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 66 billion Turkish liras ($1.94 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.2 trillion liras ($242 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.0620 as of 6.45 p.m. local time (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.6080 and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.5370.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,498.10, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $71.40.
