Turkish stock exchange down at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,829.19 points, down 0.62% from the previous close.

After the BIST 100 index started the day at 9,953.28 points, it fell 61.81 points from Wednesday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,806.69, while its daily high was 10,049.52.

While 60 indices dropped during the day, 36 gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 88 billion Turkish liras ($2.57 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.33 trillion liras ($244.45 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.1500 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 38.1930 and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.8360.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,670.15, while the price of a barrel of Brent oil was around $71.70.
