Turkish stock exchange down at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 9,665.78 points, down 1.14% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the week at 9,747.67 points, decreasing 111.68 points from Friday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,643.34, while its daily high was 9,757.93.

While 74 indices dropped during the day, 24 gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 73 billion Turkish liras ($2.14 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.23 trillion liras ($241 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.1960 as of 6.40 p.m. local time (1540GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 38.0990 and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.8220.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,632.97, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $72.30.
