Turkish stock exchange down at midweek open

Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 7,717.18 points, falling 0.11%, or 8.68 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Tuesday at 7,725.86 points, down 0.83%, with a daily trading volume of 81 billion liras ($2.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 29.1080 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 31.9093, and a British pound traded for 37.0007 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.29 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,054.50.
