Turkish stock exchange down at midweek open

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 7,282.21 points, down 0.23% or 17.13 points versus the previous close.

The BIST 100 index increased by 0.47% to 7,299.33 points at Tuesday’s close, with daily transaction volume of 60 billion Turkish liras ($2.06 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 29.3710 as of 18.05 a.m. (1505GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.4430 and the GBP/TRY rate was at 37.3910.

One ounce of gold sold for $2,076.65, while barrel price of Brent oil was around $80.95.
