Turkish stock exchange down at Monday's close

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 10.70 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the first trading day of the week at 9,008.87 points, falling 0.12% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the week at 9,012.94, declined by 10.70 points from the close on Friday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 8,964.99, while the daily high was 9,083.81.

During the day, 74 indexes lost value while 26 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 72.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.84 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.17 trillion liras ($209.1 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.1825 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.8570, and the GBP/TRY traded at 53.1545.

The price of gold was $3,376.85 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.60.
