Turkish stock exchange down at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8,410.25 points, decreasing by 0.92%, or 77.73 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 8,487.98 points, down 1.86%, with a daily trading volume of 165.7 billion liras ($6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.6410 as of 9.50 a.m. local time (0650GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 28.0770 and a British pound traded for 33.6015 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.15 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,832.85.
