Turkish stock exchange down at Tuesday's close

Benchmark BIST 100 index falls 29.83 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA)— The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,393.79 points, down 0.32% from its previous close.

After starting the day at 9,443.74, the BIST 100 lost 29.83 points from Monday's close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,383.77, while the daily high was 9,492.29.

On Tuesday, 60 indexes lost value, while 35 closed the day higher.

The total transaction volume reached 89.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.33 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.53 trillion liras ($224.9 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.1005 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 43.1400, and the GBP/TRY traded at 50.4285.

The price of gold was $3,218.90 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.15.
