Turkish stock exchange down at weekly close

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 50 points at Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 10,218.58 points, down 0.49% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,276.76 points, losing 50 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,218.58, while its daily high was 10,364.60.

Some 45 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 54 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 111.3 billion Turkish liras ($3.45 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.8 trillion liras ($272.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.2060 as of 18.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.6840, while the GBP/TRY traded at 40.3070.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,363.60, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $83.40.
