Turkish stock exchange ends day with decline

DOHA, Qatar (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended the day at 4,424.92 points, down 1.03% from the previous close, on Wednesday.

Starting the third transaction day of the week at 4,476.91 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 46.05 points compared to Tuesday's close.

The index's lowest value on Wednesday was 4,416.18, while its daily high was 4,524.13.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 3.7 trillion Turkish liras ($185.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 40 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

During the day, 26 stocks on the index rose and 71 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,936.55, while Brent crude oil sold for around $77.7 per barrel as of 7.00 p.m. local time (1600GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.8950, the euro/lira exchange rate was 21.4620, and the British pound traded at 24.6970 Turkish liras.
