Turkish stock exchange ends Monday down

Benchmark BIST 100 index falls 34.84 points on 1st transaction day of week

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 10,888.02 points, down 0.32% from the previous close.

Starting the new week at 10,894.74 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 34.84 points from Friday's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 10,816.41, while its daily high was 10,944.50.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 10.21 trillion Turkish liras ($241.6 billion), with a daily trading volume of 129.7 billion Turkish liras ($3.05 billion).

During the day, 56 stocks on the index declined, and 41 rose compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $4,091.75, while Brent crude oil sold for around $61.90 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 42.4305, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 48.9205, and the British pound traded for 55.5835 Turkish liras.
